Connecting an Xbox 360 to a VGA Monitor

With a red/white plug to connect to an audio output device, and a vga plug to connect to traditional crt monitors, and their more modern tft flat screen cousins.

A question that is often posed by new or existing 360 owners is whether they can connect their machine to a CRT PC monitor. Simple put, yes you can. You will need a specific cable to do so however, which is a Xbox 360 VGA AV Cable. I personally purchased an official cable from Microsoft. While the cable is well made - there is one drawback, while the cable is 2.5 metre's in length, the audio and visual plugs are only separated by 6 to 12 inches of cabling. While this does not pose an issue if you are using a PC monitor for both the audio and visual output, it is a problem if you are connecting to an external audio device such as a hifi amplifier, which is not in close proximity.
